Monohydrate citric acid is the water-containing form of citric acid. It has one water molecule associated with one citric acid molecule. Widely used as an acidifier, flavouring and chelating agent. Because it is one of the stronger edible acids, the main use is as a flavouring and preservative in food and beverages, especially soft drinks and confectionary. It is also used in pharma and cosmetic applications such as creams, gels and liquids.
